Today’s young women face life threatening challenges on a daily basis – gang influences, substance abuse, neglect, bullying, sexually transmitted best custom writing service infections, poverty and the list goes on. In fact, the negative influences in their lives can be overwhelming. In a society that sometimes rewards selfishness and passive attitudes, we encourage young Bahamian women to first live safe and healthy lives with strong character, and second, to be active community members who serve as life-long citizen leaders. Indeed, if our young women are to grow up and become productive citizens of the Bahamian society, they need a place where they can be girls and young women.
Through repeated failures in the classroom and the development of destructive habits, Bahamian at-risk teen girls and young women have lost faith in the possibilities that await them if they are to be successful in discovering their purpose and putting their lives together. To accomplish this goal, young women must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect and success.
